The music technology 101 course offers a detailed insight into the world of modern music production providing you with a comprehensive understanding of the recording process. From recording killer guitar sounds to ambient piano samples and everything in between, you will learn the basic recording techniques enabling you to start creating your own music. With both theory and practical studies you will learn the skills needed to confidently complete practical tasks that are set throughout the course. All tuition will be taking place within a commercial recording studio.
The Recording Course is a 2 hour lesson run weekly for 20 weeks providing 40 hours of tuition. Also included is an extra 6 hours of studio time which students can book for personal recording projects. Some of the topics you will cover:
- Studio setup.
- Microphones and application.
- Single/multi-track recording.
- Audio processing.
- Midi instruments and production.
- Mixing techniques.
- Mastering techniques.
- History of recording music.
- Live/on location recording.
- Understanding effects.
- Recording and the internet.
- Practical assessments.
A basic knowledge of music will be required along with a P.C or Mac. In addition to this you will need Cubase essentials 5 and audio interface which can be purchased from the School directly at student rates, saving you up to 50% on your set up cost.
